The Mary Agnes O’Neil Library was refurbished in 2014 with flexibility the key to supporting a range of uses. Comfortable furniture is easily rearranged to create spaces that support collaboration or individual work to cater to all learning styles and zones are created for study, small group work and classes. Students can access information from print publications, DVDs and many online library resources. Curriculum-relevant video and recreational eBooks are also available via online subscriptions to all mobile devices. Encyclopaedia, journal and database content is accessed via the Library home page. In addition, study skills and referencing support is accessible 24/7.
The lower level houses the reading collections where modular seating caters for class groups and relaxed reading. The collection reflects the varied interests of our readers with comprehensive senior and young adult titles, picture books, graphic novels and biographies.
The Turnbull Centre within the Library provides a flexible space for conferences, classrooms, tutoring and collaborative work. Both levels of the library are serviced by a lift with access from the Harbour Terrace. Outdoor seating on terraces on both levels of the library provide additional choices for reading and study.
Services available in the Library include ICT support, printing or photocopying and laminating. Most items, including books, DVD’s, digital video cameras and equipment can be readily borrowed however some resources in heavy demand and HSC Study Guides may be held in closed reserve.
The Library opens at 8.00am every morning and is open until 8.30pm Monday to Thursday and 5.00pm on Friday. Prior to senior examinations the Library is also open on Sunday afternoon from 1.00pm – 5.00pm.
After school, the Homework Centre in the library is available for students in Years 5 to 12 where they may seek homework support from one of the subject teachers on roster. Alternatively, students may join the Extended Day program where they have dinner with the boarders and remain in the library until closing time. A tutoring program also operates in the Library after school hours.
